1hr of running + 1hr of gym = OH YEAH

HI. I rock.

Today I woke up and headed to my local coffee shop;) to daydream and email and check tumblr and write letters and read my Bible. Totally an amwesome “ME” time. Then I headed to…… the trails!

Before I started my run I spotted my ex-boyfriend with one of his friends (little did I know at that point in time that he wasn’t gonna be the only “out of the blue” thing I was gonna be seeing this morning).

I waved effusively (yeah, we’re friends) and then I just started my run. Run up and down little trail mountains… run, run, run. Then at mile 1.5ish I spotted LIONEL!!! Last summer I blogged about this one cute turtle I found on the trail once… and I named him Lionel. I saw him today again! (almost a year later!). Kept running with a huge smile on my face, hit the turn-around point at 2.5 and ran back.

I was approaching the park when OMG SNAKE! A couple of weeks ago I spotted a snake, but it was half of its body out from like a bush and it wasn’t moving… but this one WAS MOVING, across the trail. I jumped over it and freaked out. Stopped. Turned around and walked back to watch it do its sliding thing.

WHAT A BEAUTIFUL MORNING! haha. Then I drove to Mother’s Market to get soy milk, Boca burgers and chick’n strips;) LAWL.

THEN, I went to the GYM!
I did a speed workout. 4 x 400m. and 1 x 800m at pace 7:30min/mi and 7:00min/mi. Then I proceeded to do arms and core.

TOTAL MILEAGE: 7.5

Came home, took a shower, ate and left the house to get my sister and drive her places. Now I’m home again. I’m about to have some coffee with toast YUM! And then I’ll call it a day.

If all of my days were like today, I’d have a killer body in no time.
  

Sunday.Monday.Tuesday: Where’s all the running?!

SUNDAY:
Got up at 6AM and was ready to go by 6:30AM. Went on what I thought was a 5.0miler but in reality was a 4.6 miler…. UGH.
I felt so slow at the beginning and it was because I was tired, I was sad, and I felt like a hardboil egg was not enough food. My stomach felt empty… I had a bit of trouble breathing:/
My total time was 43:00ish which is a 9:00ish min/mi pace… which is not BAD but I had been doing so great lately it was sort of a letdown.

MONDAY:
I didn’t run. I just wasn’t feeling it. I just wanted to curl up in a ball and stay like that until prince charming came over and asked me to marry him. So I went out with one of my closest friends and just got my mind off things.

TUESDAY:
A.k.a=today.
I was not feeling it either. But I forced myself to get on the treadmill. It was a good workout. Speed. I did 6 x 400m. at 7:30min/mi pace. Actually it was 5 x 400m. and an 800m at 7:30min/mi pace.
I did a warm-up mile and a cool-down mile at 9:00min/mi for a total of 5.0 miles in 42:00 minutes. Not bad, right? Right.

Today I ate broccoli and rice for dinner and then my cherimoya :3 
BEST DESSERT EVER! I hadn’t had a cherimoya since I moved to the U.S. 8 years ago! OMGSH so yummy…..
Tomorrow I am planning a 7.0 miler. Fingers crossed. I want to get to 8 by Fri.

5.0 miles in 42:00 minutes. Mhmmm.

So I ran today:)
And it was great, and I was fast, and I was energized!

It went something like this:

Then I did my core/abs workout and worked on my arms as well. I had an awesome time, seriously. I am glad I got to get my run done as a speed session and now I am mentally prepared for tomorrow’s 6.0 mile run!

Now I am having some of this…
Yogi tea:) “Stomach Ease” to help me digest my dinner (steak with potatoes and rice). And also, my sister and I are now watching Friends and hanging out. Later on I am gonna… do some arms and plan my meals and read running articles! haha

Random post about my recent failures.

So I failed at running last night.
I failed at NOT eating anything before bed.
And I fail at Fitocracy.

So I didn’t run last night. I would’ve had to go to the gym at 9:30ish and that was just too late for me. So instead? I had a piece of coffee cake and milk. I think I’ve been getting random food cravings because of that time of the month coming up. It is so not an excuse to eat like that but my goodness sometimes I just put things in my mouth and then I wonder what they’re doing in there.

And then there’s Fitocracy. Yeah, that takes more effort out of me than actually getting a run done. I am so SO bad at logging workouts on a website. So I believe I am officially giving up:D I am just happier keeping track of my workouts in my head. Or in my running charts that I once made… (I should upload them here!).

Today I have no clue about my workout yet. It depends on the weather. I didn’t bring long sleeves to school and it’s rainy, so I might have to go home and then do a speed workout on the treadmill. We’ll seeeeeeeeeeeee….

I felt great. I love this running thing… especially when I start getting back in shape and whatnot;)
After that I did arm workouts and now I’m snacking on some yogurt and cereal before heading to rest.

Tomorrow I will be doing a recovery run, probably 5-6 miles and then work on my core. I also started reading Born To Run for like the 10th time and I’m loving it, highly recommend it if any of you hasn’t read it. It’s truly inspirational!

Today’s Treadmill Run

It all started with a mile warmup at 9:00 min/mi pace

Then came the fun part: FOUR 400m. repeats.
400m. @ 8:00min/mi
400m. @ 9:00min/mi (Recovery)
So I repeated ^^^^ that 4 times for a total of 4.0 miles in 35:00 mins.

Not bad at all, and I was rather energetic at the end, so that probably means that I could’ve done more or faster repeats.
Then I did my arm circuit and ate dinner. We had fish and rice today. YUM. And currently I am making myself have some cereal with milk and 1/2 a banana so I won’t get hungry later. Also I’m having a cup of coffee because I have a killer practicum tomorrow and I HAVE to study. :/

Oh Monday…

Today was HELL. School that is.
My workout was a killer… tempo run, what else.

3.0 miles in 27:00 mins.

Ehh. Not proud, but not down either. I’m getting back in shape and that’s what matters. It’s week… 3? maybe 2? Definitely 3. It was a fast, hard…TREADMILL run. It was hot and my head was pounding and I was dizzy but I got it over with and then I did arms.

Now I am just sitting here not wanting to do homework. I should go to bed at 10PM and rest my legs. They’re are sore from yesterday. I ran up this KILLER hill my gawddd they hurt:( BUT THAT’S GOOD NEWS, right, right?;D

Okay I should go learn about sharks and whatnot…

This morning’s run was a killer. But as always, it felt extremely great and now I feel like I could conquer anything that comes my way today:)
I did some leg lifts with weights and later I’ll be doing my core workout circuit.

Treadmill, speed, core, and… greek yogurt!

Tonight I ALMOST stayed home instead of heading to the gym to do my 3-miler. But I reminded myself of how much self-hatred I go through when I turn my back on working out… so I headed out the door.

Tonight was a speed night. I pretty much did my first 400m. repeats inFOREVERbut it was ok. I warmed up for a mile and then did 400m. fast, 400m. moderate twice and then ended with 800m. fast and 800m. moderate. A total of 3.0 miles in 26 minutes. Not bad, but not great… but whatever, I am getting there:)

Then I proceeded to work on my core… fun. Did all sorts of abs workouts and then ended by adding a 1 minute ragular plank and 30 seconds side planks. After that I came home, took a shower and had someOikoswith honey. YUM! They’re good, and they’re organic and cheap!

Good workout overall, can’t complain on my performance… I just gotta keep up with the clean and healthy eating and I will reach my fitness goals in no time!

Runner’s High

Today I had a 3-4 mile run. But after school I met with someone and wasn’t able to run, so I came home and had dinner. My mother had prepared lentils with white rice… I loooove lentils! and they are so good for runners, I love my mom! And then I had a cup of coffee with some bread and started my homework. The whole time I had in the back of my mind the recurring thought of going for a run. So at 9PM I asked my sister to come with me to the gym.

At that moment I just had a 3.0 miler in my mind. It was 9PM after all and I needed to head back home and take a shower and be in bed before 10PM… so I was already pushing it. I started the treadmill at 9:30 min/mi and by 0.50 I sped up to 9:00 min/mi. Once I hit 1.5 I sped up to 8:30 min/mi (Ahhh!) and by mile 2.3 I got….THE RUNNER’S HIGHso, I added 2.0 more miles for a grand total of 5.0 miles! I am so so so proud of myself and felt (and still feel) so darn empowered! I don’t wanna go to sleep, I wanna party all night long! haha…

I am now finishing up my froasted flakes and waiting for my hair to air dry so I can go to bed. Tomorrow I might run double or do 4.0 miles in the afternoon. Today I did the arms circuit workout and tomorrow is abs. Ah summer, summer… you are so far yet so close (rather close, actually).

Hopefully tomorrow is as awesome as today, not only for me, but for all of you;)

Tonight’s workout

Today my sister begged me to get her a sourdough breakfast melt from Jack in the Box and asked me to have a sister movie afternoon. So we got two sandwiches… yeah, one for me too… I know, I KNOW! I didn’t even want it but I love my sister:/ but whatever… I only ate half and some fries and then I couldn’t eat any more. So we watched a movie and spent time together and everything ended at 8PM. Then, I asked her to head to the gym with me:D

At the gym I did a hill workout on the treadmill, it went like this:
1.0 mile of warmup at 9:30 min/mi at elevation 1.0
0.2 miles of hill at elevation 5.0 at 9:00 min/mi
0.2 miles at elevation 1.0 at 9:00 min/mi
0.2 miles of hill at elevation 5.0 at 9:00 min/mi
0.2 miles at elevation 1.0 at 9:00 min/mi
0.2 miles of hill at elevation 5.0 at 9:00 min/mi

Then I did 5 different types of ab workouts, 3 sets of 10 reps each and 3 sets of 10 reps of leg lifts, and an arm circuit training which I got from a video I have posted on my blog in a video:) It felt really good!

I am gonna help a friend get in better shape as well so I am excited to help out someone with workouts and dieting! This week should be a good one;)
 

Goooooooooooooooodmorning(;

As much as I dislike running on the treadmill I did 3.0 decent miles at 6AM today. Not fast but steady. At mile 2 my lower leg started hurting so I decreased the speed but still finished strong. After that I did ABS… my goodness they burnedddd. And now, they just hurt.That’s a very good thing. For the rest of the deay I have rehearsals and then spend some time with the family followed by a girl’s movie night at one of my friend’s house. I’ll be very careful with what I eat and watch my liquid intake as well… I really hope they have an alternative to soda (I will gladly take H2O).

Tomorrow is my reast day and Monday it all starts again.
All I need to keep thinking about is:abs, abs, abs, abs. And everthing will have a purpose haha.

I like being healthy, it’s truly not that hard and it makes you feel good about everything, I hope al of you have that mentality, because being healthy is not at all a burden once you get used to it… it’s truly a blessing. It takes effort, but it’s worth everything!

Today’s run and core workout

Today I ran.
Hurray!

I ran 3.15 miles. I did 10 mins of warmup, 2 mins hills, 2mins rest X3. Finished with 10 min cooldown. I felt GREAT! I was a tad dizzy but I felt great, and was reminded why I love running and pushing myself so hard sometimes. Then I came home to do my core/abs workout and that was fun as well. I did 10 reps of 6 different “styles” and a total of 3 sets. Also I added 30 second of planking after each set to add more toning! Felt reallyyy good. All need to stick to now is a cleaner diet… seriously. I wanna work on that tonight and hopefully post it later on…

Is anybody using any diet plans to get more lean muscle/abs???
