Eating Clean

There is a big difference between dieting to lose weight and eating clean to get lean.

I think for a long time I’ve tried to diet to lose weight not realizing that it’s a bad BAD idea in my case because:
         #1: I don’t need to lose weight
#2:I am a long distance runner (need actual energy to perform well during my workouts).

After much self-convincingI decided to start the Eating Clean deal along with tweaking my exercise routines. I will be focusing more on building muscle rather than losing overall body mass.
Thescariest thing about all of this is the amount of food I actually have to eat…….. and the fact that I have to eat every 2-3 hours. It’sscary because is new and I have never ever done this before. If I have to look back and point out a moment in life when I was eating clean: ZERO. I’ve tried diets and abstaining from fast food as punishment. Even starving myself from time to time in order to feel like I was actually going somewhere.

Did I get anywhere?Nope.

I am honestly still kinda lost with this new style, but we’ll see how it goes. So far it’s been two days and I have a headache from all the sugar withdrawals…. I drink way too much sugary crap. MY GOODNESS. I know it’s normal until my body levels off once again.

Other than that everything is fine. I have a 5.0 mile run later today so I’ll definitely see how that goes.

Veggie burgers are my new favorite…. Last time I ate them they didn’t taste this good!

Being a vegetarian is not THAT hard

Okay, I am not gonna lie, I did eat meat over the weekend. But not because I couldn’t stop myself from doing so, rather because I sorta had to. The first time happened because of the Women’s conference. For lunch they had cute little turkey ham sanwiches. I even remember looking at the buffet to see if they were serving any meat and after scanning the salads and cookies and sanwiches I told myself I would be okay…
…next time I thought about meat, I was half-way done through my turkey ham sanwich. I seriously didn’t even think about it. So I just took the ham out of the bun and kept eating the lettuce and tomatoes. See? Easy!

Then Sunday came along. And my family was invited to a BBQ. HA!! I had a small piece of meat, and a bunch of salad;) And a potato! Not bad, at all… to be a novice.

The hard thing for me is to stay vegan
:/
I haven’t had one vegan day yet… but I haven’t given up just yet. Today would’ve been perfect except for the fact that I already had chocolate chip cookies.. so nevermind today!

Other than that…. the only issue with being vegetarian is the cooking. Today I came home from school. STARVING. My mom had made chicken… I could’ve just eaten the chicken and get it over with, but instead I cooked for the next 30mins and made some rice with beans. I just gotta stop being lazy, and everything will be easier;)

Sunday.Monday.Tuesday: Where’s all the running?!

SUNDAY:
Got up at 6AM and was ready to go by 6:30AM. Went on what I thought was a 5.0miler but in reality was a 4.6 miler…. UGH.
I felt so slow at the beginning and it was because I was tired, I was sad, and I felt like a hardboil egg was not enough food. My stomach felt empty… I had a bit of trouble breathing:/
My total time was 43:00ish which is a 9:00ish min/mi pace… which is not BAD but I had been doing so great lately it was sort of a letdown.

MONDAY:
I didn’t run. I just wasn’t feeling it. I just wanted to curl up in a ball and stay like that until prince charming came over and asked me to marry him. So I went out with one of my closest friends and just got my mind off things.

TUESDAY:
A.k.a=today.
I was not feeling it either. But I forced myself to get on the treadmill. It was a good workout. Speed. I did 6 x 400m. at 7:30min/mi pace. Actually it was 5 x 400m. and an 800m at 7:30min/mi pace.
I did a warm-up mile and a cool-down mile at 9:00min/mi for a total of 5.0 miles in 42:00 minutes. Not bad, right? Right.

Today I ate broccoli and rice for dinner and then my cherimoya :3
BEST DESSERT EVER! I hadn’t had a cherimoya since I moved to the U.S. 8 years ago! OMGSH so yummy…..
Tomorrow I am planning a 7.0 miler. Fingers crossed. I want to get to 8 by Fri.

4.0 miles + arms

Today was a good day. It is currently 10:17PM here in SoCal and I’m about to work my arms and end my day:)

B: Fried egg with toast + a cup of milk + 1 banana

L: Tomato/cucumber sandwich

S: 1 apple

D: Potato cake + rice + OJ

S: Coffee ;)

My run was at around 4-ish and it was a nice run with a hard pace… not too fast but nicely speedy. Tomorrow I am running on the treadmill at 6AM and doing abs. My last meal was at 5ish and I should be good to go until tomorrow.

Running mode, here I come.
